Julianna Lobjolly, who is the mall manager, but known for her “spitfire of a cowgirl” ways, battles out the fate of the mall with its mean spirited and grumpy mall owner, Mr. Thicket, in hopes of saving the treasured landmark building, of hollowed sacrifices, now on the brink of being condemned. Julianna has her hands full, and they get fuller, when the handsome stranger comes to town.Sam Boedecker and his twelve year old daughter Wendy had intentions of dodging the oncoming holiday – but a twist of fate and a wrong turn through the Eisenhower Tunnel spun a much different destiny. The single father and daughter, who traveled to the Colorado Rockies in search of refuge from the seasonal hustle and bustle, and all of the emotional ups-and-downs and trappings of Christmas, find themselves on parade day stuck in-between the plans and schemes taken to save the mall. The story unfolds and reveals the mall’s fate as the Christmas holiday is seen through a cadre of unique Elktown characters that see and experience Christmas on many different emotional and spiritual levels.Sam, Wendy, Julianna and Mr. Thicket discover some things about themselves and each other, the joy of giving and the hurt in saying goodbye.It was the author’s intent to showcase, with depth and honesty, the complexities we all experience each year when the holidays roll around that bring us plenty of anxiety and stress, comedy and laughter with family and friends, and sometimes, a little unexpected holiday magic.
